nothing expands faster than the speed of light

The universe is expanding at an accelerating velocity but not faster than the speed of light. The speed of light seems to be an absolute which changes the nature of matter when it is reached.

The Universe is expanding far less rapidly than the speed of light.

It's about 64 km/s per megaparsec.

i'm not positive on this, but i think the universe is just expanding fast enough to counteract the forces of gravity trying to pull it back together.
