My HP zv6000 is pretty quiet. I can certainly watch a DVD on it.

Well I would say that there is something wrong with your computer because most of the laptops I have worked with in my company have been extremely quiet and the dell I own my self if quite as well.

Almost all are quiet, except defect parts.
Grease fan or replace. DVD movie needs 2.4GHz.
