It can best be described as attaining a feeling of complete and utter piece. A moment when the hair on your neck stands up..not from fear.. but.from:
the warm breeze of security brushing past you
the complete spiritual essence you manifest when all your
loved ones have show their love for you using methods only unique to the energy that exists between your relationship with that one particular loved one
Happiness expands on to the level where material items are no longer the priority, where how you behave is guided more by who you inherently are, rather than by your fear of how others will judge you.
Happiness is a State of existence that is fleeting and therefore needs to be manage by time. But the balancing act requires that you not spend so much time managing it as to lose it before you have a chance to enjoy it graces.

A truly happy llife is the absence of pain and trouble in the soul. The goal or path to this maximization of pleasure is the understanding of desire and which one we must pursue. Desires are placed into three categories by epicurans natural and necessary, natural and unneccessary and groundless. Our natural necessary desires are more like the staples of survival we need food, shelter, clothing and friends. All good there very acceptable. Now the unnecessaries are a sort of extragance the desire of gourmet foods or the purchase of a bouqet of flowers perhaps only for the aroma. The final category of desires are that of groundless nature. It's when we desire wealth, honor power and immortality.. These wants are sure to be more than we reckoned for with intangled recouse attached. The search for immortality is the fear of death and hope for immortality is groundless this will surely cause anxiety and prohibit one from enjoying a full and pleasant mortal life.

c.s. lewis said that being happy is being happy where you are. not wanting to be anywhere else.
others have said that being happy is wanting what you have, and not wanting things you don't have; yearning causes unhappiness, so the opposite of that would cause happiness.
