I am a Permenant Resident of Canada and my Indian passport will expire 1 day after i reach India. There is not enough time for me to renew my indian passport before i leave. Do you think i would have any problems when i get to India. I am a Indian citizen. Can they refuse my entry into India?
Thanks in advance

Indian citizens and People of Indian origin can even enter India with an expired Indian passport. Yours will expire after 24 hrs of entry, so that is more than enough.

You can get your passport renewed under the "tatkal" (urgent) scheme in any Indian embassy or consulate in Canada before you leave for India, and they shall renew it within 24 hrs and give back to you, or after you reach India, get it renewed in your local passport office under the "red line" scheme, and you shall get your renewed passport back within 72 hrs.

Hope this helps, and have a safe trip. Jai Hind.

As I undestand there is some grace period allowed to renew your Indian passport and since your passport expiry date will be almost same as your arrival in India there may not be problems for you to enter India especially being an Indian citizen. You will have to get it immediately renewed on your arrival in India ofcourse.

I think it would be wise to get ur passport renewed in Canad itself, Indian Embassy. Iam sure they wont delay it.... and also next time u should think of getting it renewed atleast a month before expiry for ur own safety. You sure dont want last minute complications..... i dont know abt renweing it in India.
