Are you still a virgin? If yes then possibly its your hymen thats preventing you from gettin it in. Just use pads untill you lose your virginity.

Definately try the slim ones with the rounded tip applicator, practice when you don't even have your period so you're not stressed out and getting all messy, but make sure you use a lubricant as it will be dry without blood there. Just squat down over a hand mirror and have a few goes, trying a different angle each time. It takes practice to get the angle right, and you have to make sure you get it in all the way past the ring of muscle so it's comfy. If you get frustrated, give it up and try again another day. I remember going through this over 20 years ago and once I worked it out, it was so much easier to deal with my periods and not worry about swim class and bulging pants.
If it still doesn't work, a visit to a friendly (female) doctor might help you work out the best way.
Good luck with it.

Try squatting or putting one leg up on the toilet or edge of the bath tub. When I first started using tampons for the first time years ago, I had the same problem. If it feels like something is "blocking it", it just means your muscles are not relaxed enough.

**EDIT: Being a virgin has NOTHING to do with using tampons. I started using them when I was thirteen years old and I was not sexually active. A tampon is not even near the size of a penis (and if you've been with a man with a penis that small, I'm sorry) so there's not really a chance of it "not fitting."

Talk to your mom or your doctor. You either aren't doing it correctly or they don't fit you well or there is a problem. It could be the brand. Seriously, I can't wear Tampax brand at all. They seem really long or something. Feels like they won't go all the way in and they're poking partly out of me. Playtex is much better. So you could try another brand first and if that doesn't work ask for help from someone who is actually there to help. Good luck

Buy the smallest tampons or teen tampons, with PLASTIC applicator, and some kind of lubricant like K-Y jelly. Make sure you are somewhere where no one can disturb you, like when no one is at home so you can totally relax. Lay on your back or with one leg up on the sink and just slowly work lubricated tampon around, remembering the diagram in the directions that you should point it towards the small of your back.

try with your finger first...make sure you wash your hands really well. if you can get your finger in you'll have a better feel of how and where to put the tampon...good luck dont give up they are worth the effort....maybe get a hand mirror too to get a good look to see whats going on. also dont listen to all these people telling you to use pads...using tampons is a freeing experince it can be like not having a your period...pop on in and go... try something like tampax satin glide ones that have a smooth rounded tip applicator makes going in much easier.

theres a paper that usually comes in the box of tampons, if you havent read this yet you should, there also usually a diagram that may be of help. wearing a tampon should not hurt at all. if it does then you are not doing it correctly, maybe you should stick with pads this time around, and try the tampons again next month. it took me a few months to get used to the idea of using tampons, and you wont be able to use them until your entirely comfortable with the idea. like i said, you best bet would be to forget about it and try again next time, maybe you could talk to your mom or aunt or another adult female you trust for some advice

I had that happen the first time I tried, then I gave up and didn't try until a much later time - then it freaked me out and now I am afraid of tampons...
But, are you sure you're putting it in the right area? I was retarded when I tried and was trying to shove it where there wasn't an opening...lol.
Good luck!

Edit: The hymen opens up to allow the flow of the period, so I'm not sure if that's the case.

RELAX. That's the only advice I can give you. I had the same problems. I couldn't even use tampons until after I lost my virginity. Maybe you're just too young. Ask your mom or grandma or another adult woman for advice. Just keep trying. You'll get it.

Maybe you forgot to take the last one out!
Just kidding. Maybe change your aim! LOL
Seriously, the long, skinny type go in easy. I don't even use them anymore except when I swim. I reached a decision that tampons sort of obstruct the "flow" and with pads that natural flow is not obstructed (I don't have scientific evidence of this but it sort of seems that way and I am a naturalist).

This will sound weird, but get a mirror and get to know your body down there. You'll be able to see where to aim, and if there is a block, as you say. Try a lighter absorbancy (smaller size) and try when your flow is heavy, so things slide better. You may just have to stick to pads for a while yet.
