I have 3 ferrets and they are very lovable. They don't smell all that bad if you keep there cage clean and give them a bath. But they do get into everything, and if you don't litter train them (YES IT CAN BE DONE) then yes they do poop in corners. and the answer to them pooping in corners is to put a litter box in the coroners they like to poop in. Oh and before you buy a ferret I would suggest at the very least buy the book called "Ferrets for Dummies" it is very informative and actually kinda funny, but if you get a ferret you will eventually need the book.

As for Petco, if I were you I would buy a ferret from a pet store that actually handles there pets regularly and doesn't just leave them in there cage 24/7. The only ferret I ever got from Petco cost me $99 with my Petco card (the cards are free) and because it wasn't handled, he was a hard biter. He doesn't bit very much any more, but then again he has been in a loving home for almost 6 months now. He is also the only one that we ever had a problem with biting.

By the way it's always best to buy them in pairs so they have a friend to play with, ferrets do get lonely.

Don't buy one from Petco..... there are lots of ferrets which need homes and are in animal shelters waiting for someone to rescue them. Ferrets from these shelters are usually well known to the workers there and they will be able to tell you about the ferrets personality etc.often you will save money by doing this too as they sometimes give you food, small toys and bedding etc. to keep you going. I got my ferret Freddie from a shelter and he is ADOREABLE. Good luck. xx

Thank you for the replace! I just lately learn the thing as facet of a GSD organization I'm in--hooked up is the hyperlink for many who wish to look it for themselves. I'll megastar for my contacts who would no longer be conscious. Iggy mentioned it flawlessly. I select to not acquire matters from there for quantity of motives, so much recounted by way of Iggy, but in addition one of the vital feedback purchasers have made approximately my black GSD--a few constructive, so much worried and uneducated approximately the breed. We have a in the neighborhood owned puppy retailer that I think is bigger and the provider is top notch (unbehaved puppies don't seem to be allowed in whilst different puppies are within the retailer). ADD: Great factor Carsynn! Our neighborhood retailer handiest has the rescues right here on the town in entrance of the shop, and men and women do from time to time provide animals away within the parking zone. There are a couple of employees participants at our neighborhood petco that quite do like pets and know the way to behave round them, however the majority of them are teenage youngsters.

make sure that a ferret is the right choice .. I see to many people want one in a whim and well ...
they dig at carpet , chew on wood, crap in EVERY corner they can and even though they are " descented" they still have a strong odor that will smell up the room and the longer you have them the more tpungent the smell...They are also very miscivious and will find hiding spots and danger at every opp!
Be educated about your pet GOOD/BAD!! Then go looking

Please dont' encourage pet stores by buying animals from them. Pet stores breed animals for profit, not based on their health or life expectancy. There are TONS of ferrets and other small animals orphaned by families who thought they'd be great pets for their children and didn't realize how much work they'd be. PLEASE visit your local shelters and Humane League and adopt. Plus it often works out to be cheaper in the long run because they've gotten all their medical care at the facility already!
