My boyfriend and I are planning on adding me to his cell plan but I want to keep my number can I still keep the number even if the account is in his name? I have always had a Go phone account and he has always had a Cingular account and since we live together have children together and pay bills together we figured it would be a good time to just share this too.

A Go phone is a Cingular pre-paid phone. When I got my phone it was just easier to do it that way now I would rather have the monthly payment.

well there are stipulations. first off, if your phone is in your name and your adding it to his account in his name then no, unfortunatly you wont be able to. what your looking at doing is whats called a "port-in" which basically moves your number from different companies or from prepaid to postpaid. if there is no name on the prepaid account (not sure about gophones, may want to contact service provider), then yes, you can move it. technically you could also move your number if its in your name by simply moving it into your name as a single postpaid account with cingular and then move that postpaid account into your boyfriends name. this is a little more tricky but is called a "change of responsibility". it'll take a while longer but if you're like me and have had your number for a long time, its totally worth it! good luck! email me if you have any other questions xred_dawnx@yahoo.com

as long as that provider lets you do that some do and some dont. You would need to ask them. Most do nowadays

yes it is called porting a number.
it can be done across state lines or to other carriers, but service providers will tell you it can't be done if they will not gain from it.
