Liquids absorb heat slower than solids.
So during the day, while the shore may heat up quickly, the body of water is there to cool the shore's temperature.
At night, the body of water is heated up and so warms the shores.
This also accounts for the breezes you get at the beach(I forgot the name).
During the day, the hot shore decreases in pressue as it is, well, hot.The sea, however, is cold and thus has higher pressure. As we know, diffusion happens from a place of higher to lower pressure. Therefore this accounts for the inland breeze during the day.
When it is night, the roles change and the shore is the one with higher pressure and therefore, the breeze is blowing outwards, to the sea.

It has to do with specific heat, which is the amount of heat per unit mass required to raise the temperature 1 degree Celsius. Water has the highest specific heat of any common substance.
That means that the temperature of the water in the lake (esp. a LARGE lake) changes much less quickly than the temperature of the air and other substances near the lake. Hence, when the lake is cooler than its surroundings in the summer, the air blowing across the lake drops in temperature and cools the surroundings. In the winter, the water is warmer than the surroundings, so the air blowing across the lake will rise in temperature and warm the surroundings.

Water absorbs a large amount of energy and has a pretty high specific heat capacity so the water temperature stays pretty constant and can keep the temp along the shores the same as the water

Water has a higher specific heat than air or soil, so it takes longer to warm up, and longer to cool down. This same difference in specific heat causes the shoreline soil to track the water temperature.

middle is deep less light or heat can travel down making it colder in the middle.alongf the edges the water is less deep so it can be warmed easier. just like its esier to boil a pot with an inch of water rather than one wit 4 inches
