You can send a letter to the author through the publisher, or you may send an email message directly to the author via their website. A few years ago I read Janet Fitchs' White Oleander and I visited a website of the publisher's which featured an interview with her and an email address for her. I emailed her and she wrote me back (twice from 2 emails I sent) she gave me some excellent writing advice and I was shocked and happy to hear directly from her! (sidebar: If you have not read White Oleander you should) Sometimes you read a book that just touches you in a special way and you feel the need to reach out to it's creator, I did and I heard from them directly and you should do the same! I'm not saying you'll get the same results but you never know!

I did work experience at Random House, and yeah, you just send a letter to the author care of the publisher of the book, and an assistant there has the job of forwarding all that mail on to the authors. I sent a letter to Margaret Atwood, and about five months later she actually wrote me back, so it's definitely worth doing.

Best way is to send it via the publisher, unless the author has a website with a feedback function. Some authors do this and you actually get a response. If you google the author then you will be able to find either their own page or thier publishers page.

You write a letter to the author, in care of the publisher. The publisher's name and address is at the very front of the book.
Publishers are very happy to forward such letters.

The name and address of the publisher is on the book. Contact the author at that address.

You can try their website. Usually they have ways of contacting the author. You can also try sending a letter to the publisher.

The publisher's information should be somewhere in the book. Go that way.
