Because we don't want to. People think that mistakes are just that, mistakes. Mistakes are bad, and if you make a mistake, you are not a good person. Why should a person admit that they are a bad person? That's our thinking. Mistakes are not to be made if we were better, but what people don't realize is that the only way to get better is to learn from making the mistakes that we make.

Learning from your mistakes is one of life's most important lessons.
Mistakes are the most valuable teachers of all. People who repeat the same mistake twice obviously never learned from it the first time around and need to take a long, hard look at their thinking processes and make the necessary adjustments.
Of course there are those who NEVER learn from their mistakes because they either refuse to admit that they make mistakes or they simply have their personal standards set too low.

They learn not to make that same mistake by not using the same procedure that caused the mistake but will try a different procedure that will cause the same mistake, but it is the nature of humans to try untill they get it right, of course some never get it right.

Becasue they have not seen , experienced hardship, they are given too many chances, they have not gone through something in their life to make the appreciate it, they make mistake then carry on with their lives as nothing happend, untill they suffer the consequnces they will always repeat the mistakes they make because they dont go through to know what it means to make mistakes, they are just spoit and weak minded, but they will realise one day, and it will be too late to even repent or been given the chance to a make a mistake again, WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND, remeber that. PEACE!!

People do...
It just takes more time for some than for others. We all have different clocks and different "priorities'.
We can say that people only change when the "have to", rather than when they should or when we want them to.
Sometimes, the change we want them to make is not what is important to them. It's a matter of priority, what lessons are we here to learn at the "school of LIFE" etc...

Because they are not thoroughly reflecting on it on a subconscious level. You have to use your will power to learn from lessons and make sure you don't do it again. You'll know when you are faced with a similar situation and you act way maturely then before sometimes you notice the development and progress in your character.

Ask G.W. Bush...he surely has an answer for this by now....well, that may be too generous of me to think he has learned anything in the past 6 years...believe me, I have learned from mistakes, and one of the biggest was GW Bush.

You do not learn from your mistakes? Then grasshopper...why would you ask the question if there were not some conscience or at least consciousness of right and wrong behind the question? giggle.
