Why do people cheat?

It's one thing I could never do. If you really like someone else better, why wouldn't you just dump/breakup/divorce the person you're with first?

Exactly. I guess it just boils down to cowardice really. Some people cheat and yet are too afraid to let go of their existing secure relationship. Some claim they don't want to hurt the other person's feelings. But by being unfaithful they already have. What they really don't want is to face the music and confess to their partners that they've been cheating.

The reason that people cheat is they think that things are getting dull with their sex life, and instead of talking about it with their partner, they think only of themselves and look for someone that they think will give them what they want, and don't think about the damage it will do to their partner, especially when their partner finds out that they cheated.

Also I think society has alot to blame. We live in a society today that has a me first mentality, that we need to think of ourselves first, it's me, me, me. Well That's not right. In our marriages I believe that we need to put our partners before ourselves. Thinking of our partners first, and about their feelings and needs before our own. Also I can't stand how society puts so much importance on sex. Like that there's nothing else to life than sex.

I belive that Marriage is intended to be between a man and a woman, and that sex was created by God to be between a husband and wife.

It boils down to being an animal first and a person second. Its animal instinct that creates the drive, but it takes a true human being to pull the reigns and realize he/she has to think with their mind and not other organs.
Man and women have the primary duty of continuing the species. Man was given the instinct to inseminate as many women as he could to pass on his genes and make more people. Women on the other hand were placed with the primary function to have the offspring, be with one male and feel secure (as a very, VERY general rule).
It all boils down to being animals first and human beings next.

They cheat because they have very low self esteem and don't care about anyone else's needs but their own. They don't want to divorce because that would mean they would be presented in a"bad light" in front of friends and family and they don't like having their "good guy" facade' broken.

People cheat because they are selfish and cowardly. If someone cheats on you, it's often a reflection of them and has very little to do with you. IF you ever suspect someone of cheating on you, then it's a sign something is wrong with the relationship even if you haven't caught them cheating.

I am 32 and I have never cheated.

could be many different reasons.
maybe the cheater feels trapped, but cant stand the place they are in at the time, and need a way to escape. maybe they dont want to hurt the one they are with by leaving them, and think they can get away with cheating without their partner knowing.
until you have walked a mile in someone elses shoes, dont judge them.
