In my area, Grand Forks-North Dakota, we used to have 3-4 locations. Now, there's 1 and that looks to be closing too. In Moorhead and Fargo, 86miles south, ALL of their locations are toast. I conversed with a friend of mine and most of the locations in his town were closed as well. Weird...

They're owned by CKE. Same-store sales have been flat; not just for Hardee's but for other similar restaurants (like Jack in the Box). Most analysts say that it's because folks are being nailed at the gas pumps. But, I think it has something to do with the wage and hour class action lawsuits they were being hit with. They're also trying to dig their way out of debt. They're using Ogilvy and Mather for advertising and these guys aren't cheap (I'm in the advertising business), so that's a chunk of change. I'm not an expert, but if they cut down on costs by closing non-performing stores, they're saving money. If they save money, cash flow looks better. If cash is looking good, people will invest. And, it appears to be working as they performed better than expected this year.

Great question. We lost many Michigan Hardees in 1995. So sad. Love their frisco sandwiches.

Hardee's is being re-branded as Carl's Jr. Nation-wide, Hardee's is loosing market share.

the company is losing money, they closed all but 1 in florida where i lived. i just moved to dover, de and we have one down the street but it doesn't seem to be very busy. it's a damn shame because they have the best quality of any fast food, and their biscuits can't be beat.
