Use some brown nubby looking fabric, make yourself a simple skirt with elastic waist, one seam up the back. Fashion a peasant style top with elastic neckline & sleeves. Get a white apron to go over the front of the skirt. Simple is best & easiest.
Good luck!

To start villagers were hard working people and their clothes were practical. I would start with a white blouse with a round neck and puffy sleeves. If you need to alter the idea keep the long sleeve and cut the neck line rounded. If you want to colour the shirt off white you can soak it in tea to stain it,
The over top can be like a corset. It can be made with a (tight for you) vest and tie ribbons or black shoe laces in front to pull the middle in. The full skirt would be below knee length. Corset like over-top and shirt would be dark colour like brown or sand. The shoes would be a leather flat brown laces up boot or plain practical shoes. I hope this can help you create a costume at home. Have fun with it it will all fall into place.
