Reptiles were laying shelled eggs for millions of years before some of them evolved into birds - and chickens came even later than that. So, by the time the first chicken laid the first chicken egg, eggs were already ancient. If your question is supposed to pertain only to chicken eggs, then obviously a species and its reproductive cells evolve simultaneously. Neither of them can exist before the other.

The egg clearly came first. Luckliy the choice was between chicken and egg, not chicken and chicken egg, as the latter would be much harder to answer. However, if we imagine the events that led to a bird or group of birds being defined as the species "chicken" it seems quite obvious that this/these bird(s) would have hatched from an egg. As to whether the egg they hatched from was the first chicken egg or whether eggs layed by these chickens were the first chicken eggs is a matter for minds much cleverer than mine...

God (or higher being, depending on your beliefs) created both at exactly the same time. Everyone always asks "which came first, the chicken or the egg?" But there is another answer to the question, which is "both." Both at the same time leaves no debate, no need to think, and a simple response from the person asking the question: "Hmmm. ok, I got it."

the chicken came first to spread many eggs... so yea the chicken cause if it was the egg a lil chick would probably die all by itself... plus it need a mother to keep it warm. so the chicken came first :)
