I'm 40 weeks pregnant (due yesterday, actually.) I thought I had lost my mucous plug a few weeks ago, but apparently that wasn't even HALF of it, because a few hours ago, there was A LOT of mucous... and it's still coming. I've been having pains in my lower abdomen/pelvis, but they are sporadic (and only last a few seconds each) and not painful enough to make me want to go to the hospital or call my doctor. Any thoughts or advice?

Not to be gross or graphic, but the discharge is a whitish-yellow, thick boogery kind of discharge.

oh honey...you'll know when it's time. Sounds like you're experiencing braxton-hicks contractions. There's no mistaking when baby is en route.
Good luck.

WALK! that should help to get labor going, and if you have been doing a lot of walking it should also help with an easier delivery. I hope for your sake that it comes soon, I know that the closer I got to my due date the more miserable I was. Has you dr mention being induced? they usually won't let you go over very far anymore, and being induced makes thing much more intense and painful for most women. If there is still something leaking, it could be your water broke, it could be confused with mucus if there is meconium present, if I were you I would call my Dr right away. Good Luck

Actually, base on my experience and how u describe what's happening right now ... you are indeed on labor and better get some help or call your behalf. You need to get to the hospital and it's very dangerous. Pains on your lower abdomen/pelvis actually is a sign in that your contracting and yes it has gaps. I hope everything will be ok...

The mucous plug is your water breaking. You might want to go to the hospital anyways. If they tell you that you are in labor then you can stay there or they will send you home if your contractions are not persistent.

I lost my mucous plug the morning before I had my son (it's not your water breaking trust me you'll know what that is lol). If this is your first baby you should wait until they are more timed, like five minutes apart. Otherwise they might send you back home and that's disappointing.

You should wait until your water breaks. Remember, the baby can't come until that water comes out. But yes, I think you are experiencing pre labor pains. You lucky girl, you're getting it over with. My baby is due in 5 days and I want him out! Hope it's an easy labor.

you're in early labor, congrats! I'd wait until the contractions get a bit stronger and about five minutes apart before zipping up to the hospital (don't wait until your water breaks, some women need it manually broken)

Ooooo...this might be it. Mine started out like that. Just keep an eye on the clock. Time when they're coming and how long they last. If they're coming fairly regularly, but gradually getting closer together and lasting longer, then it's probably time! Is it mucus that's coming out, or liquid? If it's liquid, then your water might have broken. Well, GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!! (You might have a long night ahead of you.) :-)

You should call your doctor for confirmation.....If you are 40 weeks and have not gone into labor yet your doctor will need to know your symptoms to be extra sure.

I advice you not to have that baby on here. You'll have to name him yahoo. Just kidding. Your definitely in labor though. I wouldn't wait, but I always got to the hospital way to early.
