Is the reason that most men who become crossdressers do so because of childhood abuse or can it be other reasons too?

No, of course not. Well, maybe some have, but most simply enjoy wearing the clothing of the other sex. That's it. Why? They like the feel and look of it (comfort and style). They like pretending to be women on occasion (a temporary state of transsexuality, sort of). They hate rigid gender roles and want to wear whatever without it meaning something. Sometimes they want to be delicate and feminine and female clothes symbolize it for them (for male cross-dressers). Sometimes it gives them a sexual thrill. There are a million reasons, and they differ many ways, but it's not the result of child abuse.

Hope that's shed some light on the subject!

I don't know if this a troll or the real deal, but the anger in your message clearly could be felt. But I am no shrink either. So here the low down. He's 14 and and somehow, his wardrobe isn't the right fit, let alone the right gender. Thinks it is a joke, or had a bet with some of his friends that he will do this, saying he is too much of a "girly" man to win the dare. My guess he just wants to have fun, or was trying to not pay the cover charge. (I don't what clubs will let a 14 year old in anyway) Instead of being cool (or masculine about it) and finding what made him dress up like Dolly Parson, you beat him for wearing a pink tutu. For this he calls the cops on you, curses you being a close minded freak. You want to cops to do something about your son, but all they care about is you beating him senseless. So they arrest you, then are sent to the nearest cross bar motel for a few days to think it over. Most likely for a domestic charge and child endangerment and/or abuse. Meaning that most places of legal employment will not hire because of that. Which would most likely will screw you and your family out of an income. Meaning that you and your family will have no food, no water no shelter, no money, and no way to able take care of themselves because of your "old fashioned" ways. You are now out of jail, done your time and you still want to force your "old-fashioned" values on your son. And you say there is no restraining order out on you.... Again, as I have mentioned before, I am no shrink, but you might have some issues of your own do deal with. The way I see it, there was nothing 'masculine' about the way you handled the whole ordeal. If you haven't figured it out by now, leave your son alone. Showing old fashioned values the way you did isn't worth it, as you experienced. Nor is it going to change him. Hell, you are lucky enough that the state hasn't took him away from you, let alone him being a runaway or even let him live under the same roof with you. That's my advise and my guess. What you do from here on out is up to you.

I know many straight women who prefer to wear men's boxer shorts over tight panties, does that them cross-dressers? No, nor does sexual abuse. To many men, women's clothing is just more comfortable then men's and I say let everyone be who they are and not judge, the world would be a much nicer place. (A Thumbs Up to the girl who spoke of what is and isn't "normal", I feel the same way.)

The book's still open as to why some people are transgendered. Theories range from the hormonal mix in utero to the messages picked up from family members about gender roles to, yes, abuse. No one has the definitive answer as to why. In fact, I'd wager that there *is* no one answer.

One of my close male friends likes to dress as a woman at times. He is very secretive about it and will only dress this way alone or in front of me. He actually has lot of nice clothes. I asked him if he was gay or wanted to be a woman and he claims that he dresses this way because he is letting go of stress. He was not abused as a child, so he doesn't have any demons in his closet. So, I believe that he is straight, but likes to get in touch with his feminine side.

i was abused as a child but it is NOT the reason i am a CD/TGirl (pre op TS). there are too many other issues that come into play other than physical abuse, sexual abuse, etc.

Some like the feeling of women's clothes. Some treat it as a kind of mask to escape themselves

No, honey, believe it or not, not everyone who's not "normal" (I use the term loosely, because who decides what's normal?) was beaten as a child.
