(she will be back in a month) im currently living with my dad. we...or should i say, my dad is in financial debt. sometimes i forget that, and i point out something i like in a store, and then i feel guilty when i remember that my dad cant buy it for me. i dont own anything name brand or anything. but i REALLY want to get a few things from places like A&F,AEO and hollister.im not old enough to get a job, (im 13) but i would greatly appreciate it if you gave me suggetions on how to make money to buy these things for myself instead of "running to daddy" who is in this case, pretty much broke!!!

what i said about only my dad being in debt came out wrong. sometimes its hard to stick by him because he s the kind of dad that tries to tell you that evevrything is ok, and he sort of tries to blind me from the fact that we a in debt.

I know you really want that stuff, but if you make extra money, you should try to help your dad. Chances are your dad won't accept it, but it would be so nice of you to offer. He needs your help more than you need some trendy outfit that will fall apart after a few washes. You'll grow out of this stage- wanting trendy clothes.

If you are wiling to work and are in a area with lots of older folks the elderly always need some help doing chores around the house. make up some cards saying something like .
The Chore Girl
I am 13 and willing to work hard
Will do house cleaning to yard work
Reasonable rates

My daughter did this and by the time she graduated high school she had 8 employees and was making over $3000 per month as her own personal income.
Best of luck young lady. If you have drive and ambition you will do well. Stay sweet stay honest and always give your best.

Are there kids in your neighborhood that you can babysit a couple of times a week? Talk to some parents and see it they'll let you do it; hopefully you are responsible enough to do that. You are not old enough to get a real job anywhere yet. By the way, A&F is way too expensive for the kind of clothes that the sell. When you earn your money you'llnot want to spend it all on one item Try shopping for bargains at stores like Marshalls and TJMaxx who have designer/brand names for less. Bu first, you must find a way to make money. You can mow a neighbors lawn, walk their dog (preferably small ones only), or watch their kids.

when i was your age, i babysat a lot and made a good deal of money that way. you could also try mowing lawns or shoveling driveways (if it's winter and you live somewhere where it snows), petsitting, dogwalking, etc.

as far as shopping, you can actually buy all of those things you want for a discounted price. try stores like marshalls, where they sell clothes from big name stores like abercrombie, american eagle and hollister that either didn't sell or had a minor imperfection. also try goodwill or other consignment stores - if you're lucky, you may even stumble upon a few designer pieces (i got a louis vuitton wallet and a catherine malandrino skirt at my local consignment shop), and you should most definitely be able to find things from the stores you like. some stores have a section devoted to teenagers - ask them about that and see what they have.

you can also go to the big stores themselves - if you look at clearance, you may find some good prices - and also, clothes with minor imperfections (i.e. a missing button or a small rip) are often HUGELY discounted... a friend of my sister bought a pair of pants at hollister for under ten dollars because one of the buttons was about to fall off!

it may be difficult to be limited as to what you can buy and what you can't - i understand, i was in a similar situation a while ago - but just try to support your dad and let him know that you care about his problems. hopefully he'll be able to better his financial situation soon. good luck!

The best way for a thirteen year old girl to make money is to babysit. If your dad knows any people with young children that may need you for the weekends or even for just a night out, then ask him. There's lots of people out there that need a good babysitter. That's how I made most of my money when I was too young to get a job.

I think you're such an awesome, thoughtful and kind. You're dad is so lucky to have a great kid like you and I'm sure he knows it.
It's great that you recognize you're dad has enough stress and financial problems and you're trying to take care of yourself.
Like everyone is saying, you're limited in the job market but doing chores for your older neighbors and making fliers to hand out saying babysitter, animal walker or sitter, and light chores at your service, hourly rates, (and depending on where you live will determine the price per hour).
GOOD LUCK.

If u dont have a lawn mover, just ask a friend if they have it

Flea market or tag sale for the stuff you don't want anymore or a paper route. As far as having name brand things, They aren't all their cracked up to be... they really aren't that great. I got through most of my life without name brand things. Oh and you could go to Ross or TJ Maxx or Marshalls to get name brand stuff and low prices too.

First of all I think ur dad bieng broke should include u, because as a dad I dont think its of his interest to make you wish to have those things and not have them. I think you should be beside him (you should try to forget about those things for a while..well, 'till the situation is over)..and I think this will more helpful.
INCASE you want those things that bad...try fast foods. I dont think they care as to who they hire..they should be able to hire you. or a local gas store...
good luck ;)
