first of all wear comfortable shoes...can we all say Dr. Scholl's? second are you standing in one spot or are you walking around like when you work in retail? if you are just standing there for a period of time have your feet a few inches a part to give you a good balance it keeps you from swaying. don't lock your knees because if you do when you decide to walk they may give way and how embarrassing will that be.

By not standing in one place for too long. I'm on my feet 8+ hours a day at work, but what helps is moving around the store a lot and wearing comfortable shoes. You get used to it after a while.

Wear comfortable shoes that have good support and well cushioned soles. You wouldn't want to stand for long periods in high heels or leather soled uncushioned flats.

You might want to check out the shoes that doctors and nurses wear. They don't just come in white.

Dr. Scholl's massaging gel insoles. No, I do not work for them. Yes, they do work. Those babies have gotten me through ten hour waitressing shifts and another job that required me to hike up to 12 miles a day. Buy them, and also Advil.
