This is more of a statement at first then I will ask the question. Rap is retarded these days. I mean come on Mike Jones? wtf? and Paul Wall? please Im as big a rap fan as anyone and I am a rapper but come on rap is a bunch of posers these days man. I remember when it was about keepin it real but now you got little rich white kids dressin up in there hoodies and thinkin they're hard ARE YOU KIDDING ME? What about some Run DMC? huh thats rap or Public enemy, Hell Ill even go as far as Eminem when he first started but after that it went waaayyyy downhill.

also about the white kid comment earlier Im white too its not a racial thing I was more concentrated on the rich part. You cant possibly tell me that someone who was born into a life of luxoury knows what its like to be ghetto and hard.

Now for the question, How do you all feel? do you agree with me or disagree? all comments are welcome thats why I wrote this

Rap music is getting so lame now that I listen to nothing but old school r&b,funk, rap, rock & roll and more.Good rappers like Lupe Fiasco and Common can't sell records, but someone like Mike Jones,Ying Yang Twins andYoung Dro can sell millions. All rap music is sounding the same. All they talk about is booty, strippers, money, grill and drugs.Im a big fan of Jay-Z,Nas,Kanye and Common. But some of these older rappers need to quit.LL,Master P,Too Short,Diddy and more need to let it go.I can go on all day about this but im gonna end this here and say HIP HOP IS DEAD!

I agree with you, except for the Eminem part.. I admit i like him.. But you're right when you say Rap is not the same anymore. I heard Kevin Federline's album the other day and i couldn't stop laughing.. Everybody wants to rap these days, i wonder why? I miss the old good times, the old good songs.. Now, like you said, whoever that's got money can get a record deal and a lotta publicity, and they'll be popular. But then again, they couldn't do that if ppl weren't so stupid (no offense) People likes that kinda stuff, sadly.. So we're gonna have to put up with the crap for the rest of our lives.. Unless they'd stop buying their cd's.. But i don't belive that's gonna happen any time soon lol.. Anyways, i'm not sure if that makes any sense to you.. Thanks for reading this though.. Have a great day.

i believe that all music should have a message, and a lot of rap songs that have come out lately have completely lacked a message. A lot of the songs are about how rich the artist is, objectificaton of women, and "grillz." I think that Pharrell/the Neptunes/N.E.R.D. and Kanye West are the only rappers with true talent. Eminem might have some talent, but somewhere between 1998 and today he sold his soul.

that being said, i'm a huge fan of british hip hop. they don't take themselves so seriously, it's great music.

Rap today is WAY downhill...

These record companies will sign these talentless rappers to get them #1 singles(Young Joc)... While others with talent who has what Hip-Hop headz wanna hear, have to struggle to get out more, and the only way to do it is to sell themselves out for the mainstream audience...

And as for Eminem, he fell downhill when Benzino found them racist tapes, and distributed them to other rappers, mixtapes, and inserted copies into every issue of the March '04 issue of The Source Magazine...

I agree rap is not what is used to be. Its just the same worthless woman degrading crap spit again and again. I no longer listen to rap anymore, none of the new stuff that is, the only time i listen to it is for when i need to dance. Anyways the realist new music is probably the Roots.

I concur with you on this one. My being a teen and knowing the rap industry's aim is directed towards my age group, I feel as thouhg rap could possibly be used to shed some positive light on our struggles as teens and deliver a message..However, the "rappers" choose to imitate nursery rhymes, implicate drug trafficking and exploit young women.

Dumb it down for the loads. Also, perhaps the stuff YOU pay attention to is handiest approximately the ones matters. There are plenty of rappers, and plenty of rap albums, historic and new. Explore, my little one.
