What's wrong with people hugging other people, girls hugging girls, boys hugging boys, and vice-versa boys hugging girls? As long as it doesn't get into a groping session, why not? What we need is more love (not sex) - more friendship in this world. Grown-ups hug each other and I don't see why kids can't!

I encourage mine to hug other kids whenever it is appropriate. My boys are not gay, but they hug their friends and get hugs back on occasion. Like when they have experience a win at soccer - they might grab each other in a hug, or when they are playing other sports. My daughters are as affectionate as the boys are toward their friends or when a hug is needed, like when a classmate is sick or had a death in the family and came back to school.
