Which is more appealing...long lean legs or shorter athletic legs?

Doesn't matter because its personal preference and also out of your hands.
The point is to make the most of what YOU have...white, brown, freckled, long, short or WHATEVER! lol
If your legs are long, make sure your jeans or pants are also long enough. If your legs are short, pay attention to the length of your skirts or shorts as some styles can make them appear more so. Take stock of what you actually have, be realistic, be positive and dress for your shape.
Shoes can help to balance the shape of your leg. Look at your ankles and decide wether you need a a strappy and delicate design or perhaps something with a chunkier heel to make your ankles appear smaller than they are. Should you have an open shoe? Will a strap over your ankle break up the length of your leg and make it seem shorter?
Just observe what is actually there and shop with that in mind.
Everyone has appeal, you just have to learn how to compliment your shape. You can do it mate.

depends with what the rest of your body looks like. But am sure they all are alright. I prefer long butathletic lean-short legs. is that alright?

i would take the lean ones and they do not necessarly have to be too awful long either.
