I am doing a speech on the support of funding for humanitarian efforts. I would like anyone to bring their imput on why they believe we should fund this or should not. I need both angles because I will need infomation on why people believe we do not need it so that I can find information to refute that. I have been on the World Health Organization and UNICEF websites, and have found tremendous info. Thanks in advance.

Why we do need it:
To help others out better so they won't be such a strain on ours and the world's resources. Plus if we don't, we wind up with people with bad intentions stirring up trouble in those depressed areas, such as we have seen the last century.
Many religions call us to help those in need.

Why we do not need it:
Because charity starts at home and we have so many that need help here in our own country. Clean up our own act first then we will be better able to help others. We do not have the resources to help many people, our efforts are merely drops in the buckets that mainly go to just the people in power, not those that really need it.
