West Coast - I always suggest that everyone make certain they put Yosomite National Park on their list of places to go - it will leave you absolutely awestruck by the scenery. You can camp or stay in a hotel there. From there you can do a road trip and see San Francisco, go to Great America amusement park in Santa Clara, see Monterey, etc.
East Coast - The Outer Banks, (recommend Corolla or Duck) is very nice for a beach get away or if you like the mountains, Gatlinburg, TN is nice and has alot of touristy things to do as well.

As with above, but add a 4th question: "When do you want to go?" if you are talking winter then you want to head morre toward the south to avoid snow/rain, if you are talking spring/summer then you have some other options.
For NE of US = Virginia or Pennsylvania LOTS of history and a few amusement parks to.
for SE = Florida can be nice, but the North Carolina/South Carolina suggestion fits with above and has Golf too
for SW = New Mexico is excellant, and Arizona
for NW = Seattle and Portland have you covers adn you get the history of the area as well.
Midwest can be fun, but really everywhere I went was kind of cheese. Mt. Rushmore is ok but after that....

This really depends on several factors and without this information it is hard for me to recommend a destination.
These questions are such as, how long you want to go for? How old are your kids? What "type" of vacation are you looking for as in warm/beach, culture/history, cold/ski, etc? How much you are trying to stay around for the trip cost total? These are all important questions that need to be asked and answered for an agent to determine where say I felt you would be most happy.
As there are several places that are wonderful for families, but what is right for one family, isn't for another.
I could certainly work with you and help you in determining the best place for your families holiday. Feel free to email me and I can send further contact info.

Costa Rica. Beautiful small country near the United States with peaceful and kind people, beautiful and lots of beaches, volcanoes, jungles, tropical rain forest, dry forest, nice places to stay, people are not hostile to Americans, secure place (just be careful of robbery). I suggest you to consider Costa Rica for a vacation.
