I'm with you Buddie. Remake after remake. I guess it's ok for the younger generation who hadn't seen these movies before, but let's get serious here, What were they thinking when ANOTHER King Kong came out?? Ok, graphics have improved, but couldn;t they change the storyline a little?

Star Wars original? That's a laugh. Lucas admitted to stealing heavily from the Kurosawa film "The Hidden Fortress", most of the rest was straight out of the classic swashbuckler movies of the 40's. Hollywood hasn't done much of anything truly original, ever.
Which isn't to say that I don't enjoy movies, I most certainly do. I just don't hope for anything original.

That is why I have been watching foreign films for the past few years. Even the Oscar winners are pure dribble! I see a lot of indie movies and documentaries that blow the socks off of mainstream hollywood. Even Bollywood is more entertaining! And the music is fun. Good question!

Not since Stanley Kubrick died. I think the Good Old Boy club of Hollywood has become too closely knit and cracking in is too difficult, so they toss the same ideas around and turn books into movies because they lack inspiration.

I watch 2 movies in theatre every weeks. I rent at least 5 movies from blockbuster every week. I watch all of them, not including in TV and internet. I agree with you that hollywood is dried of new ideas. Right now I prefer Indian ( bollywood) movies. More original, great ideas, good music and songs, talks about family values ect. You will enjot it. All I need when i watch indian movies are popcorn and SUBTITLE.... my personal recomend for indian titles will be "Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham" in Hindi Language and "Kannathil Muttamittal" in tamil language.

I'm sure there have been a few new originals. But then again, when 100's of movies are being churned out every year, there are only so many stories to come up with without plagerising. (i know i spelled that wrong... plagiarising???)

Yup I feel they are when all that comes out are remakes. And ones that dont even need to be remade. You know the saying " Dont try fixing it if its not broken" or something like that lol.

No, I just think that unfortunately what Hollywood thinks sells is stupid, repetitive crap. Check out independant films, those are original, and don't really sell. When you think about it, is it really movie makers who aren't original, or just us, and they're trying to please us?
