There was no 1983 Corvette. None were ever built for sale to the public.
That’s not to say that Chevrolet never built any 1983 Corvettes. Actually, 44 cars were assembled — all pilot cars that cost an estimated $500,000 each to fabricate.

Wrong, there were 1983 Corvettes, but none sold to the public.

There were 44 cars that were assigned a VIN # as an '83.

Most were used as test mules and destroyed, but there is one at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green Kentucky.

1983 is the year chevy moved the corvette plant from St. Louis,Mo. to Bowling Green ,Ky. That was the afore mentioned production problem. None were actually made for sale @Road and Track.

There never was an '83 model Corvette. Model jumped from '82 to C4 1984 version. The C4 was meant to be the '83 model but GM, in one of their screw-ball moments of promotion vs good sense, opted to release the new Vette as an '84 model in an attempt to beat every other new car model to the sales floor. It's sort of like an airline not having a number 13 seat on a jet. It's still there, but the numbering skips from 12 to 14.
Go figure.

Technically, the '84 is the '83 that was not released due to some production problem.

There was no '83. The pictures you see are ads and promotional stuff that was being readied for the release of the '83 (I think)

Yes. They do. The mustang is not a 1964. It's a 1964 and 1/2.
