It's fun to give gifts. I know that's not what it's all about but I like to make people happy, especially around Christmas time.

Actually, giving gifts is part of the Spirit of Christmas, but I think that the bigger and more expensive part can be controlled more. In my VERY large family, we decided long ago to have a $20.00 per present per person cap and we pick a name out of the family Christmas stocking each year to give our present to this year. Works for us and we all get together at several parties and exchange gifts during Christmas week.

Some ppl like the hunt of a "perfect gift" and don't care what the cost is.

Others like to see what expensive thing they can get at a discounted price, whether or not they can afford it. They like the challenge of a good deal.
******************Lesson learned last year********************
Watch out for "sales", last year I bought something expensive mainly b/c it was marked 50% off and I thought I was getting a good deal. Turns out the store had marked the product for double the price and stuck a 50% sign on it. Found out a week later when I went to another store and saw the same product with the original price of what I had paid for it 50%off.

I really hate all the glitz and crap that is coming earlier each year, we have always set a limit for our kids and a month or so before Christmas our kids go through all their toys and select some to donate to charity, they have to be in good working order.....Homemade gifts can be great idea....

I love spoiling my children, so I go all out during Christmas. It's fun and it feels good to see their little faces light up after they have ripped the paper off the gift and see that they got exactly what they asked for.

True indeed. I know a rich family who now has to out-do last years gift for their kids...who already have EVERYTHING!
In my opinion Christmas is about the birth of Jesus-the savior of the world. It's his "birthday" and everyone forgets about Him and buys presents for other people.

Because you want to. You may simply visit your friends and spend quality time with them. You can also create things that may reflect your Christmas wishes and spirit to them.
