I figured I'd be buried for a long time, but lately I've been considering cremation.

It's more cost effective for one (cremation urns are commonly 10 times less expensive than coffins). Plus I'll be safe against grave robbers. :)

Secondly, my main reason for wanting to be buried was so that my body could naturally decompose back into the earth, only it'll be damn difficult to get back to the earth if there's a coffin in my way.

Thirdly, not only in Pagan religions (one of which I follow), but in many others as well, there are rituals that include burning things (like food offerings, written wishes, etc.) in order to send them to the gods. Well, that's certainly where I'm hoping to end up, so perhaps burning my body will assist me in my journey there.

If I decide to be cremated, however, I'd still like a memorial stone set up somewhere that my family and friends can visit and leave flowers by. I feel it helps in the grieving process for many people to be able to visit the grave of their deceased, and if it so happens that that would help someone come to terms with my passing, I would not want to deny them that.

However, if all goes well, I have a very long time to think about it.

A coffin. As creepy as that is to have people parade past my casket with my dead body in it, I'd rather be in the ground than in an urn on someone's mantle.
