I moved to a new city right before high school, and did not know anyone. I know all of these people are telling you to 'be yourself', and that's great in theory, but I know that when I entered high school, I did not know myself yet. So, I took the opportunity to find out who I wanted to be. I introduced myself as Mandi, talked to everyone even if I was nervous, and pretended to be calm and laid back even if I didn't feel that way. I made tons of friends, all from different social circles. And I learned how to talk to people. I'm not nervous around crowds, or when I'm meeting new people now, because I did that in highschool. I no longer go by Mandi, but it was a great learning experience, and helped me learn about who I am. So sit back, take a breath, and ask yourself who you want to be when you're an adult. High school is a building block, and it sure was alot of fun. Oh, and go to every dance, and dance with every boy that asks you. Or ask someone yourself. Even if he's not a 'cool' guy. Thats what I did, and I met some great people, and other boys wern't afraid that I would turn them down. Have fun!

It is normal to be nervous when making a big change. It will pass, and you will settle in there pretty soon.
I went to a public highschool and there were always new kids from the other schools like the gifted schools and the religious schools that started there. It's really neat how everyone pretty much just merges together, and you will find that this will make you more interesting and attractive to the other students. By highschool they are sick of all the same faces, and so everyone loves to make friends with the new kids.
The lockers are nothing to worry about. It's just a place to stash your books and such, just make sure you get your own, because sharing a locker always comes to no good.
It is unlikely you will get lost. Think about the size of your new school. Is it as big as a mall? Probably not, and you know you could memorize a mall in less than a week right?
So don't worry. Go in with a positive attitude and you will be fine.
Good luck!

awww i know exactly how you feel! :)
when i was going to start high school i was scared ****less about all of the big bad seniors and teachers.
but really, there not bad at all!
yes i must admit highschool does suck (well at least for me) but its becuase of the work not so much socially. i cannot lie and say that ppl do not do drugs and drink becuase they do but they are stupid and whatever you do, do not fall into that trap. dont worry about not fitting in becuase everyone fits in somewhere with all of the people. but whats even more fun is standing out. i do this by what i wear and not in a wierd way eaither people are constantly telling me how cute my clothes are. so in all, just be yourself and shine!
(oh gawd that sounds so corny sorry!)

When I was in high school, the new people always got shown around by some other student. Get a map of the school when you check in the first day if they don't do that. Maybe you can go early or the day before after classes and draw where your classes are. Just don't look scared and act like you know what you're doing.Keep your chin up and don't look at the ground. If someone looks at you just smile. Don't forget there are teachers around, you can ask them where your next class is. Go to someone that is by themselves,I'm sure they'll help.Lockers aren't scarey, but nowadays I hear they aren't as secure as they used to be in my day so unless you don't mind it being stolen, don't leave it in there.Hope this helps. It'll be okay.As far as not fitting in..hmmm..So many people do not fit in in high school and you know what? They turned out to be the COOLEST people of all. They stood out because they did not conform to every one elses whatevers. If you LOOK like you've been there before and act like you LIKE sitting by yourself (even if u dont) YOU check everybody out. YOU choose who you want to associate with. People will WANT to get to know you! You can act...and don't act scared! Peace

Don't worry. Until I was 12 I lived in China, went to a private school and dressed, well, not exactly cool (short shorts were all the rage for guys) When i started going to my American junior high, I was sort of singled out for my british accent (HK was british in China), so I couldn't exactly hide. I adapted, and now I have a lot of friends who vary greatly with groups and attitudes. trust me, no one is alone in High School unless they want to be. If you are lost, ask someone. They aren't gong to laugh at you unless the are utter and complete assholes. You'll do fine.

Be yourself, ignore everyone else. A lot of people won't notice you because they are too busy with their own things. Don't let cliques take over your life, either. You'll have certain groups try to pull you but choose who you are comfortable to hang out with. Don't do it because they are popular or whatever.
And nobody fits in in high school. Everyone is so insecure and dresses alike. Don't be a clone, be yourself.

All new students need a time to learn the ropes and adjust to the schedule and life in a school.....keep your ears and eyes open the first few days and the rest will fall into place by habit ....good luck and don't sweat it!!!!

1st of any movies/tv shows you've seen hat depicts HS as nerds vs jocks, cheerleader as mean spirtied bitches, etc is all for drama. HS is *never* as bad as you imagine it to be.
You'll fit in plenty. So many diffrent clicks that you'll find the one that best suits you easily. All you gotta do is clear away from those students that think cutting class to smoke/drink is fun. It never is. Stick to those clicks that know the value or studying *and* having fun. Those clicks are goldmines.

You're not the first first-person to go to high school. They are expecting you and know how confusing and disorienting it can be, and have everything set up to get you started. You'll find your group to fit in, and if you get lost ask a teacher for help. I promise you that you'll be fine.

Every kid entering HS feels exactly the same way. Don't worry. They will have an orientation to show you around and explain everything. If you get lost, it's not big deal. It happens to everyone. All thos big, bad seniors were in your shoes once so you will be fine.
