Thought i was buying new and it was used, my husband and I went to the home depot and seen this front load washer and dryer that we have been doing research on for at least a month. Came into the store and could not believe our eyes. the one we wanted and they were offering it to us at a discount because the people who ordered it refused it upon delivery. "refused it UPON delivery" the didnt want it. well 4 days later we go and pay for it and bring it home. we set it up and look for manuals. Funny thing is the drum of washer was wet along with manual. hmm, open manual and find return forms from last owner who sent it back because they used it for 1 month and had nothing but PROBLEMS with it. what should i do? sue? get more money off? My being the second owner makes my warranty from manufacture null and void (service call on the machines were already placed) so my extended warranty thru HD wont start for 3 years. i am very very mad that i was taken what do i do?

Father, No i have not spoke with store manager as of yet. I kinda wanted to get a feel for what other consumers would do and what there thought on the whole thing was. We work hard for our money and with all the complaints that HD has had in the past with the BBB and with Consumer Complaints.com i am surprised that store managers do not take better care of there customers. I thank you all for your input

Im a manager at HD. and I know that if you call and speak to the store or assistant manager their, they will have no problem sending someone to pick it up and exchange it for you. It sounds like there was some miscommunication with the washer being sent back to the floor for resell. If you dont get the help you need from the sm then call the customer care line 18005533199. I would use that only after i spoke to the manager. Good luck

My husband works for Home Depot and he says to go to the HD and tell them what you found with the washer/dryer. He says that when the first owners returned it, that it should have been marked "return to vendor" and not returned to the sales floor. He says it could have been an employee's mistake, marking it simply "returned" instead of "return to vendor." Also, he says if the manufacturer's warranty is now void, that the extended warranty from HD should go ahead and pick up where the other one left off.
Go back to HD and ask if it can be returned or exchanged for a different one. Also ask about that warranty. They should be able to work something out with you since it was their fault that this happened. Good luck!

Some stores, particularly home improvement stores like HD and Lowe's, will not give you the full purchase price back on some items if you return them. On the receipt, it will have the purchase price and state a lower return value. Usually this applies to building supplies, like drywall and lumber, but they could do the same for a dolly just as easily. Also, if you returned the dolly with visible signs that you used it (scuffs, gravel in the wheel treads), they could refuse the return or only give you a store credit. Personally, I would either find a friend with a dolly to borrow, or just cough up the $10 to u-haul. The time and gas you save alone going back and forth to the store would be worth it.

Just take it back and get your money back. The service calls prove the previous people took ownership, so they misrepresented the goods when they sold them to you.
If Home Depot argues, tell them you'll sue for damages in the small claims court. They know you can get at least $1,000 in total costs at the small claims court, and they'll have to spend a bundle on defending the claim, or end up paying you anyway. It's cheaper for them to take it back and trash it.

They should give you your money back or replace the machine with a new one. You shouldn't have to bring it back yourself either, they should pick it up from your house, and deliver the new one to you if you want an exchange. I would explain this to the manager, and threaten to sue them in small claims court if they are not willing to do anything. Then sue them if they do not resolve the matter to your satisfaction. It shouldn't cost much to file a lawsuit in small claims court, and you will get your filing fee back if you win.

I think Home Depo should replace it with a brand new one.
If they advertised it as refused on delivery, it means it was never used,
I can't beleive it, have you spoken directly to the store manager
( not that I don't beleive you, but home depo reallly goes beyond the limit to help and work with customers.

that sucks, take it up with a manager of the store. They don't want a lawsuit and neither do you i assume. ask them to take the used one back and give you a new one at the price you got the used one for.

I would see if they would give my money back. However your warranty should still be valid.
