I'm guessing that this is male. It is not uncommon for males to have swollen mamary glands when they are born and can in fact produce milk because of the influx of female hormones in thier system. This should go away.

Congratulations on the safe arrival of your baby boy, as you are new parents if ever worried then go to the doctor and get it checked out.
Just a note, newborns both male and female get hard whitish looking nipples as they are feeding from their mother and have estrogen in their system, I was really worried with my daughter as my son didn't have it as I didn't breastfeed him due to massive blood-loss during childbirth.
But you should have a few check-ups during the first few months and always ask, never try and squeeze them but touch them and see if it hurts your son, if not then you could maybe wait until the 4 week check up as it can normally dissolve on its own but if you are worried then see the doctor and the doctor can put your mind at ease. Congratulations once again and enjoy these wonderful early days as you will never be able to replace them. Enjoy your beautiful baby boy and the miracle of life.

Hormones from the mother are still present in the baby for a while after birth. This may make the baby boys breasts or nipples appear large or swollen. Some are very large, others aren't at all. If they appear very abnormal or you are really worried, see the doctor. I have twin boys, trust me-new borns can be very strange looking! lol

Umm, I am not sure if it's the same thing that my baby had, but the doctor said that since all my hormones were also going through her body, she would have little bumps in her nipple area and it's just milk. I don't know if that helps, but you can ask the baby's doctor.

Mention this to his paediatrician when you take him to his next check up. This is not normal. Watch for a growth on the nipples. Hopefully these are not cysts growing in him. Some folks are born with medical issues that cause them to grow cysts in their body or outside of their body. And this is a lifetime ordeal that will have your child in and out of surgery regularly throughout his lifetime. But, I don't want to jump the gun either.

There is a small lump underneath the nipples and that is normal. Have your doctor check it out at his next visit to make sure just in case.

It's called nipple buds and it's totally normal! I'd advise educating your self on newborns and get a book to read so you don;t miss anything that may be imortant.

It is normal for babies to have breasts, even boy babies, because of the amount of hormones they are exposed to, some of them even lactate. It usually resolves by 1 month.
If you do not think they are like breasts can you describe it a bit more?
