There was a case in Florida I believe, where a Muslim woman insisted that because of her religion her DMV photo ID should show her with her face completed covered except with two thin eye slits and with a veil over them. I found this amusing. I could imagine a police officer pulling her over and checking her photo ID. " Well it's you alright. I'd recognize those pupils anywhere." I think she lost her appeal because driving is a privilege and not a right.

No, its not racist. Muslims can be ANY RACE. This is why its not racist. The decision to cover their faces in public is a danger these days, allowing them to hide who they are in an age of so called Terrorism. Small to medium built men could wear Burka's to enter banks and throw the guards and others "off guard" to get a surprise over on them. This is why countries such as France, and many others are instituting laws that forbid the wearing of headcoverings in many public schools, etc. Its not to be disrespectful of Muslims, but to ensure safety of those around them and the innocent Muslims nearby.

After all, just because someone wears a Priests collar doesn't make him a priest!

I'm a Muslim and no I wouldn't say it's racist to say that all Muslim women wearing burkas look alike.

I could understand if the woman was wearing a niqab and had her eyes showing, but wearing a burqa is different because it does cover the eyes as well. How could anyone even drive in a burqa anyway? I know many ladies that drive wearing niqab.

I myself have been asking to show a piece of hair for the DMV and I was too naive and shy to no at the time. I am only wearing a scarf and my full face shows. This is what I look like and so they should take my picture so I can be recognized like this. Without my scarf I look much different and they wouldn't recognize me.

i became going to ask the comparable question. i'm no longer muslim yet my husband is and that i've got countless that the girls in his relatives have given me and a few that I picked up myself at an analogous time as i became there. i do no longer understand why i'd think of that donning them in Jordan and not being muslim would be any distinctive than donning them right here. i assume with the aid of fact there it became regularly occurring to verify in basic terms approximately each and all the girls donning hijab and that i in basic terms became one interior the team. right here i'd stand out like a sore thumb. Oh the thrill of a small city! I specifically have what they call Princess Hijab (in Jordan) - the two piece stretchy tub like ones. I call them beginner hijab. i haven't gotten down the knack for tying the headband yet and that i'm a hazard to myself with pins. I in basic terms love how i've got self belief once I positioned on them. From the 1st time my sister in regulation confirmed me the thank you to positioned on one it in basic terms felt delicate and the only be conscious i will think of of is right. I many times positioned on them whilst i'm at domicile. I even have some eye-catching Jibabs that I positioned on each and all the time. i'm getting some humorous seems yet maximum persons in basic terms think of i'm "in basic terms a sprint distinctive".

I'm as liberal as you get, but they should take the burka off. You are right, if you don't want to take the burka off, you don't have to drive - it is a privilege after all, not a right. Plus, if you feel that you should wear a burka, you shouldn't be driving should you?

Live with our laws in AMERICA, that is my belief. If I came to your country I would expect to live with yours. I was actually at the DMV where a German guy had to have a translator to take the test,,,,how stupid...what if there was an emergency and the police did not speak german and his translator was not there...I can bet I would be behind him in traffic..

Hahahahahaha! Good analogy with the cop thing. I can see how someone can interpret that as racist, but, personally, I don't think it is. It's just an obvious observation.

Since you are making a statement about dress, and not race, I would say it is not a racist statement. However, it does not flatter you to say such things.

I think in this country you shouldn't be aloud to wear anything over your face no matter what your religion.
