it will just stop working. the 'num lock' light goes off and i cant type or use the keys for anything in any program. i cant even do ctrl alt delete. why? to fix it i have to shut it down, but then it did it again. it has happened two times so far. i checked the chord, its in all of the way. is it just the keyboard or could it be my computer?
is there any way to fix this?

the easiest way to be sure it is just your keyboard is to borrow a good working keyboard from a friend or family member. If that keyboard works, then you will know that you need to replace your keyboard. Also, if you go to the "start" button and click "control panel" there will be an icon for "keyboard." Open that one and be sure that no one has disabled the keyboard options.

First, I'd go to the control panel, systems folder, hardware tab at the top, then "device manager". Once there, delete the keyboard that you'll see on the list of devices. Then restart the computer. Upon booting back to your desktop, you may see it automatically installing the drivers again for your particular keyboard. If you still have the problem, you can replace the keyboard for around $10. If that doesnt correct the problem, there's going to be a problem on the motherboard inside the computer in the "Keyboard" section where the cable plugs into the back of the computer and will have to be repaired.
