I have to do a presentation for a group of employers on different methods they could use to help passive smokers and create a healthier working environment. For example: a filtration system. Please give me sources. I want to help non-smokers with out hurting the feelings of smokers. Help me please ASAP

I can smell heavy cigarette smoke when I walk pass my coworker's cubical and she is in a position where I have to walk by her desk.

I wish they would put the smokers in a seperate section because after they go outside for a little smoke break and come back in I always smell it for hours and it makes me cough and sneeze.

I hate it!

It cannot be done. Filtration systems do not work. Even if they reduced secondhand smoke slightly, they aren't really providing much protection to the non-smoker who doesn't want to be poisoned by smokers.

The only effective way to protect non-smokers is to ban smoking completely in the workplace - no sections either. Too bad your state doesn't have good anti-smoking laws like we do here in NY.

Please don't be concerned about the feelings of smokers. If someone was going to punch you in the face, would you be concerned that you might offend your attacker by defending yourself? It is the same thing with smoking. People who smoke in public are assaulting others. Have sympathy for the poor non-smokers whose health is being destroyed by having to involuntarily breathe secondhand smoke.

Abandon your presentation and suggest that these employers ban smoking completely in the workplace - anything else is unethical. Instead, research and suggest ways that these employers can encourage smokers to quit, so the smoking ban will not be as difficult for them. Perhaps they can pay for programs that help smokers quit, nicotine patches, etc.

First please understand most non smokers don't care whose feelings you hurt.

In general since it is proven that smoking is costly on health issues, an employer should ban smoking in any and all of thier buildings. Forcing a person to breathe second hand smoke for any reason, is unacceptable in a health concerned society.

Smoking should only be allowed in specific rooms or out of doors.

EVERYTHING SHOULD BE NON SMOKING. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR PRESENTATION. SMOKERS INTO THERE OWN SMOKING ROOM WHICH HAS AIR FILTERS. AND ONLY SM0KE DURING LUNCH OR COFFEE BREAKS. OF COURSE THE SMOKERS ARE STILL GOING TO SMELL OF SMOKE ON THEIR CLOTHES. MAYBE SOME FREEBREEZE TO SPRAY ON THEM.

Why not just ask them to smoke outside-saves money.. and nonsmokers don't have to smell the smoke
