is it possible to convert a disk that was made for a karaoke machine so that it will play on normal dvd player? the disks use both mpeg and midi files and wont play on a normal dvd player.

I don't know what discs you are referring to that contain mpeg and midi files. Video karaoke discs are either DVD or VCD and will play in most DVD players. CDG karaoke discs contain standard audio tracks with lyrics and images embedded in the normally unused subchannel.

CDG song tracks may be converted to a video format, that can then be written to a DVD disc that will play in a DVD player, with software like Power CD+G to Video Karaoke Converter and TriceraSoft CDG to AVI.
