My husband (an electrician) fixed it. Two days later we found water all around and under our refridgerator, the little beast chewed through the hose and water leaked out all over the place. Now something smells like garbage, it is disgusting. It's coming from the back/insides of the refridgerator. Could have something leaked inside from the freezer when everything thawed out? Please help!

On the bottom of the fridge is a drain pan for the defrost cycle to drain into, and then evaporate.

Pull the front access pannel off. (Below the door)
There should be a plastic pan that is "fairly" easily removed.
Take it out, wash it, and put it back in.

Is your gerbil still alive after chewing the wires?
Have you seen him? The smell might be the gerbils voltage fried body.
