When you hear people from other countries speak in English, they have an accent, right? Do we sound like we have a accent to them? Also, lots of places in the United States have accents, but I'm from Central New York it seems like I talk normal, I'm not saying my way is "normal" I'm just saying like.. can you tell if you have an accent because everyone around you talks the same way?

Most people from other countries that speak English as a second language speak with a British accent because they are taught "British" English in school. I have to speak very carefully with my European friends because they can't understand a word of my deep south English! I think sometimes you can be unaware you have an accent until someone points it out to you.

This is a very interesting question, yes I believe we all have an accent, not too long ago I stopped in a cafeteria in South Carolina on my way to Florida and the woman called me Yankee, why because she found an accent, same I can detect their accent when they talk, but English is English and we are kind of use to it, now when you hear people from other countries talk then you hear a heavy accent and bad grammar and pronunciation, but that is normal in foreigners, also people from the UK have an accent too, and for us is kind of difficult to understand sometimes..âº

If you go to another country where English is spoken, but with what we would consider an accent, like Scotland, Ireland or Australia, you would be seen as having an American accent, or perhaps a New York accent as that is even more specific.
In New York, you don't have an accent, but in Tennessee, you would have a New York accent.
Someone from Tennessee doesn't have an accent in Tennessee, but in California, they would have a Southern accent.
Someone from California doesn't have an accent in California, but in England, they would have an American accent.
Someone from England doesn't have and accent in England, but would have an English accent in Canada.
Accents are all relative to the area you're in.

You know it is kind of funny I lived in California for 18 years and when I moved to Arkansas I was told I sounded like I had a Spanish accent, Now when I talk to my family or friends that live in Cali they say I have a southern accent

Yes, you have an accent. I'm Canadian and I've been told I have an accent. Heck, my husband is from Louisiana, and he has an accent. Yes, you have an accent.
