My Dad says that Nov 5th is Guy Fawkes Night. My Mum says it's now called Firework Night. If we aren't going to remember Guy Fawkes and the gunpowder plot, what the point of a Fireworks Night?

It has been Guy Fawkes night on November 5th.ever since the wretched man tried to blow up Parliament in 1665, we have let him hang around for several hundred years, so why get rid of him now? Anyway, I have very fond memories of being a little girl in the East End of London and pushing around a `scarecrow` called Guy, in an old pushchair, and asking for a "penny for the guy please" and getting it!

I have always called it Bonfire night!! - Don't think the history bit will ever be forgotten though - Kids are still being taught about the gunpowder plot at school.
