I got her a new one about every three months, but you should check them every night for signs of wear. I also kept one back, just in case. so we had two at all times, even though she didn't get it often, usually when she was going to sleep. If you keep a paci finder attached to it you can keep better track of them.

We tied a little ribbon on the Nuk and pinned to our baby's shirt. That way when it popped out it did not go on the floor or get lost. Also, the ribbon was only a couple inches long, so the baby could not get strangled. This way the Nuk would last many months and only need to be replaced when it got chewed and broke. Good Idea to wash it.

A nuk is a brand of pacifier.
Anyway I didn't use any because both I and the baby didn't like them, but if you so use them ESPECIALLY if you are breastfeeding you should boil them every day to prevent thrush (oral yeast) which if it spreads to your nipple will cause you intense pain.
You should sterilize it regularly anyway. Why people boil bottles and never think to even soap a pacifier is beyond me.
I would have at least two (so one is always clean) Probably more. But don't buy them until you are sure which brand your baby will use.
Replace them if they are sticky, craked, cloudier or breaking in any way,

My son has 2. He has never really used them and since I breast feed, I prefer he doesn't have them anyways because they can cause nipple confusion. Some babies have a very strong sucking urge and absolutely have to have one though. I had one nuk given to me at my shower and the other from the hospital. One is still in the package and never opened.

If by Nuks you mean pacifiers than we had tons! My daughter always went to sleep with two, one in her mouth and one in her hand. She always found ways to hide them in her crib, even when she was really young. It would amaze my husband and I when we would go in to get her in the morning and there would be a small stash of them in her crib. We had them everywhere though, a few in the car, in all our diaper bags, random places around the house as well as back ups in the kitchen cabinets and in her bedroom. There were probably one or two in our room as well as the linen closet. We couldn't ever have to many, they seem to disappear so quickly!
As for replacing them, when we were running low we would get new ones, otherwise we just run them through the diswasher a few times a week to sanitize them.

LOL! So many--I don't even know. I would lose them easy so whenever they got lost I'd buy him a new pack.
He's now off the pacifier though, so no more nuks for us!

probably 10 those things are so easy to lose. if you are using 1 @ a time I believe it is 1 or 3 months cant really rember that you get them a new one. you will know they become sicky or chewed to death, but yeah I had about 10 and just lost some along the way bought more found the ones I lost. from start to finish of suckie age I would say I went through 10 changing them when one was lost

I always had five or six going at once. One in the car, one in the diaper bag, one in my purse, and of course several in the house. I no longer do pacifiers, since it ruined my daughter's speech (my fault for taking it away too late) and since I hate getting up 5 times a night to give the paci back to a baby who isn't old enough to put it back in themselves yet. My last two babies I let have a paci only as a newborn; I broke them of it by 3 months old.

When my son was under a year, we had at least 8 scattered around the house. They would always get lost, but I knew there would be a backup somewhere. Now that my son is 17 months, we only have 2 in the house (only for bedtime) and 2 in the car. Hopefully I won't need to buy anymore before it is time for him to say bye-bye to "binky".

My daughter had/has many, many Nuks (we call them "pluggies"). We wash them regularly in the dishwasher (for sanitary reasons. . . though I don't know why - the girl eats dirt, rocks and bugs. . .), and only have bought more when we are out and find we don't have any on hand. But our doctor told us to replace them when they have become cracked and/or pieces have come off.
