They aren't open 365 days a year. 7-11 is closed on Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Year's for part of the day. So, you've got to be able to lock the doors occasionally.
They also need to be locked in the event of a crime, to secure the crime scene, which convenience stores are prone to have. They also need to be locked in the event of a natural disaster or power outage.
And finally, for the safety of the clerk, they need to be able to lock the doors for their own safety, if something is brewing outside that you don't want to have come inside.

Wow, I don't know. They just want that feeling of safety. Or else the people who made the doors were retarded. But I think it's because if they ever happen to be closed, they have to lock the doors. Or maybe sometimes people decide not to show up. I don't know. They are retarded.

For emergencies, like if the electicity goes out, they can't have customers walking around the store in the dark, "especially" dishonest customers. Also if there is a fire, or the store gets robbed, they sometimes lock up temporarily or otherwise. Did this answer your question?
