I am 11 weeks pregnant and still have not had my 1st doctors appointment. It will be Monday. I had a friend that was the same as me, went to her appointment and they told her that she had not made it past 5 weeks and she still hadn't miscarried but she would. Has this ever happened to anyone? I had never heard of that before, I hope everything is fine with my baby.

When you miscarry it can take the body awhile to realise it and to clean itself out/give birth. When you miscarry in early pregnancy sometime to body just reabsorbes the baby.

While miscarriages are relatively common, I wouldn't worry too much, besides there is nothing you can do to prevent it. You will feel much better once you can feel the baby move every day (which will be soon).

Just try to relax and be happy.

When you go in Monday they will probably be able to hear the baby's heart beat since it starts at around 10 weeks. They will use a dopplar tool or do an internal ultrasound to measure the baby and get a good determination of how far along you are. The Dr. can tell if the baby is no longer alive, which is what happened to your friend, and they will wait to see if the body naturally flushes it out. It is very sad but don't let that bring you down!! If you are healthy, and take good care of your self during your pregnancy you lower your chances of miscarriage and raise your chances of a good labor and delivery with a healthy baby. When I was pregnant I worried about miscarriage but realized the worry didn't do any good. Enjoy your pregnancy, the nine months will be over before you know it!!
Good Luck!!

The baby can stop growing but yet not be passed for a few weeks. Often times when a woman has obvious signs of a miscarriage such as cramping and bleeding, the baby has been dead for at least a few days. As long as whatever early sympoms you are having , such as morning sickness, has not suddenly stopped in the first trimester, then you are fine.

Yes, this did happen to me. I miscarried in an early stage and I did not find out for a few weeks. I now am proud to have four happy healthy children.
Listen...Worrying is for not on this. Most pregnancies do just fine. You will be okay.

It's called a missed abortion, and it does happen fairly often. Basically means the baby has died, but your body hasn't expelled the products of conception. Usually requires a d&c (dilitation and curettage), but sometimes they'll use different drugs to attempt to get the body to natural expell the fetus.

Good luck with your baby.
