no, it might cause more severe problems though, and no one wants that. We stuck to hylands teething tablets, which work great and have no harmful ingredients, and my daughter did just fine. My son will also be using them as soon as he starts teething

Oh boy, that's an old time one. I'm 62 and that's what my mother-in-law told me to do. Couldn't bring myself to do that, but found something that worked really well. Wet a clean face cloth and wring out the excess water. Toss it in the freezer until it gets firm. Give it to baby to chew on. Be sure to have another as a spare for when the first one gets room temperature. It cools those gums down and helps the pain. Although over-use of orajel is not good, some tylenol and oragel at bedtime can buy you some sleep. The orajel sooths the pain until the tylenol kicks in.
Boy, my babies are 39 and 41, but I still remember those miserable teething times. Good luck.

Whiskey has alcohol in it so NO you should not use it for a babies gum, even the littlest bit of alcohol can be harmful to a baby not to mention if caught doing that DCF can get involved and remove the child from you.
Back in the old days when people did not know that alcohol was so harmful to children they did it but now with the science and such we have we know it is very harmful and using whiskey on a child can result in the childs removal from its parents.
My aunt is a DCF worker so I know a lot about these kinds of things and not many DCF members will care that you did not know it was harmful.

Buy teething tablets at Walmart. They are in the vitamin section.I have 3 boys and my youngest is now 2 years old.It has worked for all of them. You put 2 tablets on their tongue and it dissolves instantly. No side effects and a whole lot more time to get some much deserved sleep.I would be afraid of the whiskey, but I guarantee the tablets work!!

Are you out of your mind??? There are safer ways of helping your child when they are in discomfort during teething. We are in the year 2006 not 1956....get real! They used that method years ago and it probably worked by getting the babies buzzed. Try baby oragel, cold wash clothes, teething rings, teething rings that you put in the freezer etc. Try these methods not alcohol.

That is so stupid. Who would put whiskey on a baby's gums? Why don't you try baby orajel? It was made specifically for that and you won't have to worry about getting your baby drunk!

Yes, I Think it works, but no, I don't think it should be used. Wal-mart has a homeopathic teething tablet they sell in the baby section. They work. Trust me. My daughter is 11 months old. They are awesome.

my pediatrician told me to use whiskey and not to use the stuff sold for babies. Your not giving the whiskey to the baby to drink, just rubbing a little on their gums.

NO!!!!! and alcohol given to a baby can cause seizures and brain defects.......
Good Lord!!! People and their wive's tales!
You really shouldn't use orajel either, but a lot of people do....give them cool teething rings to chew or tylenol if it is bad enough.
