Crayfish in some parts of the country and Crawdads in other parts of the country.
They eat dead fish,worms and bugs.
You can catch them on a piece of raw bacon.
Rarely do they catch and eat live fish,they are too lazy for that.They are scavengers and clean up the leftovers.
Their eating habits are similar to Fiddler Crabs and if you have ever seen a Fiddler Crab eat it is an amazing thing to watch.
They eat like they haven't eaten in forever and they use the bigger claw which seems odd to me. Seems like using the little claw would be faster but that is just the way nature is. . . AMAZING!

crawfish's AK Mud Bugs favorite food is soft, decomposing plant matter; however, they will eat just about anything – algae, snails, insects, plants, dead fish, etc. Crawfish are cannibals and will even consume other crawfish that are molting. You first need to purge the crap out of them Place the freshliy caught crawfish in clean fresh sit for 10-15 minutes (not longer). Drain the water and rinse them off with more fresh water. There are all sort of recipes to cook them.

They will eat just about anything on the bottom they can catch and put in their mouth.

I feed my little guys Frozen Blood worms and Krill, you can get these at almost any pet store.
I also like to feed them with chopsticks so I get to see them attack and get their food.

the will hunt down and kill any small fish. it is amazing to see a crustacion take down a fish. if you dont have fish, try chichen or hot dogs.
