Between the 16th and 18th weeks of pregnancy she can find out for sure if she gets an amnio done. She can also get an ultrasound but sometime they are not so conclusive becasue the baby is not cooperating or is too active to see any whether it's a boy or girl.
Oh and by the way pregnancy is not broken down into months but in weeks and there are three trimesters. First trimester is week 1 through week 13, Second trimester is 14 weeks through 27 (approximately) and Thirdy trimester are weeks 28 thorugh 40.

I have a rare experience on this that makes me have a slanted view for ultrasound that is performed at 16-20 weeks.
I have four girls now. My first daughter was supposed to be born a boy according to ultrasound in 1995. The second I could not tell since she had her legs crossed. The third was also supposed to be a boy. The fourth was actually a girl and your could see that on ultrasound. Since you already are right half the time with either guess, it may just have to be determined when the baby is born. Their are a lot of great things out in gender neutral colors.

Usually a diagnostic sonogram is scheduled between 20-24 weeks. You can usually start to tell the sex prior but it's more obvious at that stage and the baby still has a lot of room in the uterus to squirm around and expose the genitals to the sono. Either way, the sonogram isn't 100% accurate. I've heard of a few couples taking their sons home in dresses because they were told they were having a little girl! In any case, good luck.

The first ultrasound is usually around 20 weeks and you can usually find out then. Word of caution, unless they get a clear shot of the genitals, the prediction might not be 100% accurate. Hope that helps.

the docs can tell at 17 weeks (4 months) but most of the time you wait til anytime after 20 weeks (5 months) because the baby is bigger and it is easier to tell...I just found out this past Thursday I am having a girl(im 20 weeks)..tell her good luck.

Usually at the 18 week scan they can tell you.
A word of warning tho, until the baby is born, I wouldnt take it as 100% accurate!..........Ive known several people think they were having a boy and then have a girl and vise versa!

Why does she NEED to know...she wants to know.
You can tell anywhere from 16 weeks on.....You usually have that ultrasound 18-22 weeks.
Sometimes the baby has its legs closed or won't flip so you can see.
