Im getting sick of the weather, the moaning, the politics, the expense of living, the government etc etc. I love the british culture but would really like a better quality of life where people are a bit happier? I dont mean to generalise, just my observations. Any sensible answers please

Utopia, third right past the end of the rainbow.

You've missed out why we pay taxes. Apart from keeping some idle people wealthy they pay for education, health, housing roads, et al.

The weather, we can do nothing about, Politics can be changed by voting, yes actually voting.

I'm not bothered whether a person is blue, green or pink and purple stripe, I don't care if a person worships a gold bar or a house brick. He will seek the correct direction at some time.

I think that we British are probably not very happy because we are a constant target with criticism by insiders and outsides. We have a Press that can only print bad news.

We have a Civil Service (centrally), that is at best inept, and at its worst criminally negligent.

However elsewhere it is probably crooked.

I think that if we adopted the policy of 'if you don't like us GO!' Even if a persons lineage goes back generations to Dick Turpin, still GO and the sooner the better, because that person will find that they are carrying bad baggage with them.

Take another look at Britain, walk around it, talk to strangers in other areas.

You will find that it is the best place on Earth.

You might want to consider Maine. In the United States. Where I happen to live. I am in South Portland. It is very nice here and the people are upbeat but they do not meddle. My neighbors are sweet but they do not pester you all the time. New Englanders. I would have you "take a gander" at anywhere in Maine. Maine is such a state of mind... it is impossible to explain it to you because I have lived here all my life (63 years). All I know is I feel like I am living in one of the nicest and prettiest places on earth.

Try one of the colonies - like Bermuda. I went there on my honeymoon and it was a great place with the clearest water I have ever seen (I've been to Hawaii, Mexico, Costa Rica, Australia, New Zealand, etc.).

Plan on working three jobs to make ends meet though...
