That depends on your local laws and fire ordinance. Generally, take a metal garbage pail, punch some holes along the bottom so air can get in. Punch some hole in the top lid, fill it with the paper and light it from the bottom. You can also use a fireplace. You can also stuff it in a plastic bag, drive to a remote spot (not near any trees or buildings) douse it with lighter fluid, drop a match on it and run.

If you live in the U.S. and in a city there are air pollution laws against burning anything outside. Most fireplace experts tell you that your fireplace should not be used to burn trash and papers can fly out and catch the roof on fire. Just take them to the recycling place or throw in trash. If there is something with personal information, shred first.

i live in a pretty rural place and we have a burn barrel that i made out of a settling tank from an old water treatment system.if tou are rural try to acquire an empty 30 or 55 gal.drum and get a pc. of sheet steel or aluminum to use as a lid to cut down flying sparks.always be fire safety concious.have a water hose handy.if you're in town use a shredder.
