What the heck are they singing?

90% of the songs I have never ever heard of. It's like wow how much of a sheltered life did I live, but then most of the parents are in the same boat as me I realize.

I am not claiming any dislikes at all. All the children work hard to sing their hearts out to us. It brings joy to me while I am there. I am just asking are you in left field when you hear the music.

Most schools nowadays don't allow actual Christmas music to be sung at a holiday concert because of the religious implications. I know; I was a music teacher in the school systme for years.

Try to focus on your child and the effort he/she is making. No matter what you think of the music, tell your child how much you enjoyed the concert and that he or she did a great job.

I feel bad that they are not able to enjoy the songs that I grew up with. Its terrible that Christmas cannot be celebrated like it used to. If you don't believe in it, then don't let your children participate, why ruin it for the ones that do believe and celebrate.
