Having mentioned that the dinner potatoes were not as hot as usual, I had all of my own failings and shortcomings over the last forty years described in detail.

Yes, she should give you some flowers to make up for her tirade about the last 40 years

Why oh why did you criticise the potatoes!? Silly silly man! You set yourself up there well and truly!

Unless she particularly likes flowers giving her a bunch would probably just get you in to more trouble and they'll end up in the bin.

Just an apology for criticising something she'd lovingly sweated over making for you should cover some ground and then telling her you love her and how you need her should do the rest!

God we really are from different planets!

Could be a situation of "Yes, Dear..." Save the flowers. The gesture would be nice, but real communication would be better. Hold off for now and just be kind and quiet and attend the next time something needs tweaking. When you find a moment where you can say something wonderful, go for it. The trick is not to get dragged into posturing as the one who made a mistake for telling the truth...

I don,t see what the big problem is. You are entitled to having an opinion about what goes into you mouth. If she can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen. If your wife loves you, she should want to know when you are pleased or not pleased with what she cooks. That way she can work on making it better, but if you lie and tell her how good it is, when it is not,you will be stuck with horrible tasting potatoes for the rest of you life. Imagine that. Let her know you love her but she needs to work on those potatoes. :)

Yikes! The way you phrased that makes it seem like she bit your head off! Maybe she did, if she did, apologize but no flowers (it will be better for your relationship, powere struggles are not good). If she didn't and you were being a donkey's behind. Go with the flowers and an apology, and next time she makes dinner tell her you've died and gone to heaven from her cooking.

oh she may be weary
them young girls they do get wearied
wearing that same old miniskirt dress
but when she gets weary
you try a little tenderness
oh man that
un hunh
i know shes waiting
just anticipating
the thing that youl never never possess
no no no
but while she there waiting
try just a little bit of tenderness
thats all you got to do
now it might be a little bit sentimental no
but she has her greavs and care
but the soft words they are spoke so gentle
yeah yeah yeah
and it makes it easier to bear
oh she wont regret it
no no
them young girls they dont forget it
love is their whole happiness
yeah yeha yeah
but its all so easy
all you got to do is try
try a little tenderness
yeah
damn that hart (hard?)
all you got to do is know how to love her
you've got to
hold her
squeeze her
never leave her
now get to her
got got got to try a little tenderness
yeah yeah
lord have mercy now
all you got to do is take my advice
you've got to hold her
don't squeeze her
never leave her
you've got to hold her
and never
so you got to try a little tenderness
a little tenderness
a little tenderness
a little tenderness
you've got to
got to got to
you've gotta hold her
don't squeeze her
never leaver her
you got
got got got to
now now now
got got got to
try a little tenderness

Yes flowers, but not immediately as this is an obvious grovelling apology for unreasonably criticising her rubbish food.

Sweat it out for at least a week and THEN go for the flowers when she don't expect them.

a hug, a kiss, a rose, a teddy bear, a box of chocolates, a sorry card, and sum dinner potatoes made by you!!!

all of that shud do the trick...make sure u make the dinner potatoes cuz there's prolly a chance ull mess up and get her to laugh (not trying to offend guy's ability to cook but yea..most guys need help with that lol)

and for future reference.......don't ever criticize a girl's cooking....if yu have a problem with them...get up urself and fix it up a bit by putting it in the microwave or adding salt or wut not and not saying a single word abt it..if she asks..just say nah i just wanted to heat it up a lil more im in the mood for sumthing really hot..or i just wanted a lil more salt in it or sumthing..but yea just dont ever put a girl's cooking down lol

That was a tad excessive of her, but if you want to keep the peace, yes flowers should do it. We're easily pleased.

It might help, but I would probably go with chocolates AND flowers if I were you...NEVER and I mean NEVER tell a woman her cooking isn't good.
