Have you had your battery tested? Have you called your service dept? When is the last time you bought a battery?

It may be taking a little longer than normal for the alternator to "excite".
For an alternator to put out electricity, it needs an outside power source greater than nine volts DC to excite the rectifiers.
If the light only stays on for a second or so, I wouldn't worry about it yet. You may want to put a little money aside for an alternator, or battery in the near future just in case though.

You should have several lites that come on when the key is turned on. This is normal and is a check to let you know that they are working properly. If any continue to stay on after a couple of seconds then you have a problem

I don't have a Honda, but on my 2003 Chevrolet Impala LS, this is a normal starting procedure to let me know that the charging system is working.

Time to visit the mechanic to solve the problem.. Powertrain or emissions problem.
