My girlfriend just opened my laptop to find the colors on the screen inverted. Restarting does not fix it, nor does changing display resolutions. How can I fix it?

Well, there can be any one of several things that can cause the problem. Yes, there are viruses out there that have the ability to do that (non-malicious Scrypt), harmless but aggrivating. We'll assume that this is not the case. Next and most common would be "video adapter" and "monitor" drivers. Occasionally, you'll have conflicts with the computer and the drivers will fail from time to time and must be "Re-installed" or "updated" by their manufacture. Open your control panel, display folder and click on the "settings" tab at the top of the page. Then click on the "Advanced" button and go into the "adapter" tab first and update or re-install the drivers by clicking on the proper button. Then go back in and click on the "Monitor" tab at the top and do the very same thing. Once your drivers are download to you and installed onto your hard drive, you'll need to restart the computer so that the new changes can take effect. Need additional help, feel free to holla. I'll help you with it, step by step if necessary until the problem is solved. Great question, thanks Larry RadioShack 01-9590

No, that's a myth. The monitor still has to use energy to put color on the screen, no matter what it is. There is no savings by inverting the colors. The theory that black uses less energy is also a myth.

There may be a bad connection between the video circuit inside the laptop's main case and the video display. If so, a local computer repair facility that is skilled in laptop repair may be able to fix it.
