Global warming, the impact of technology on society, great works of literature, space exploration, psychology, comparing and contrasting cultures or religions, philosophy, the 'American Dream', animal testing, Shakespeare, fast food and how convenience has affected society, English vs. American authors, mental illness and how it should be treated, fair trade, corporations such as Wal-Mart and how they impact small business, World War II, terrorism and fear in society, nuclear weapons, North Korea... etc.
Just pick anything that you can write a good thesis about and be able to research easily. :)
